Articulate Storyline | Adobe Photoshop | Javascript
This is a demo made in Articulate Storyline, as a personal project. This demo showcases the use of rich visual design, in conjunction with ID principles.
Thought Process
This project started as a template that I created to showcase my skills as a Visual Designer.
But as the project went on, I transitioned to include elements to showcase my Instructional Design skills as well.
The main idea while designing this demo was to display a custom-made menu interestingly. The scope, however, snowballed and I ended up creating a few more complex interactions along the way. The timed quiz was quite a fun endeavor and so was the click to reveal interactions.
Design and Development
As I said earlier, this was supposed to be a demo just to show some Visual Design Skills. The inspiration for the sidebar containing the major functionalities came from a Dribble shot of a website. Designing the sidebar in such a way allowed for some extra space vertically.
As messy as the accompanying screenshots might look, the actual development process was quite simple. The quiz with the timer was made by creating a new layer of 1 second duration and setting some triggers to alert the learner about the time left.
The only complicated process in the entire development was including the visited states for the menu items. The page numbers were already available (by using number variables). With that, each menu item is triggered to change state when the page number changes.
